Reno, Nevada is quite a city. Whether your first thought is of a wild night downtown, a day of skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains, or just the place you call home, Reno has a lot to offer! But the very best of Reno lies off the beaten path (figuratively speaking, don't worry most of our destinations can be reached via road or burro ride!) From stores hidden in housing districts just waiting for an industrious treasure hunter to restaurants you'd hardly notice from the outside with food that will change the way you think about food, Reno is full of incredible places that no one is talking about! Conspiracy? Probably not, but just in case...if I stop posting someone delete my blogger account and warn my family to change their names.
If you have visited Reno then Downtown probably brings to mind festivals and events of all kinds, towering casinos, a bowling center shaped like a bowling ball, and all sorts sites and spectacles begging to entertain you (yes, that includes the homeless guy catching pigeons, thanks Gerald!) If you are from Reno then the word Downtown probably calls up an image of the horrendous traffic that the people watching the fantastic displays of human achievements (and Gerald) cause when events are in town.
Then there is Midtown, which for many of us native Northern Nevadans is known to be the place for a good bite to eat and some interesting shops. Unfortunately it is often overlooked by visitors, and I'd be willing to be plenty of locals could do with a second look as well.
Southtown is a residential heavy district filled with nice homes and high end car dealerships. It also hides one of the best wine bars in town. Leave no stone unturned!
The name of the page is Around Reno, and Sparks is about as close as you can get without being in Reno, but it is city all its own, filled with mom and pop shops, entertainment hubs, and an entire road dedicated to parties!
Everyone knows about Tahoe (or they should) but I'm going to take you to some of the gems that nobody knows about. This is where you're going to need that burro.
Fun and lights, places to eat, places to shop, places to go and things you should see, I'll take you to all of it, so stick with me.
Now then, let's do some exploring, shall we?
Thanks for reading and enjoy, Reno!
